Toronto Star: Ford Follies
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was something of a loose cannon. I was asked by the Toronto Star to draw an occasional full page cartoon strip based on what was happening during his eventful incumbency. There was never any shortage of material.
There seems to be a duplication of themes in strips 7 and 8, and I can only assume that strip 7 was never published. I honestly can't remember how or why that came about, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have got away with churning out the same stuff twice in a row but using a different storyline. I've included both, just for completeness.
There was also a strip about the 2012 Republican convention - where Mitt Romney was desperately trying to look presidential and sound against a backdrop of Tea-Party nutjobs. It all seemed totally barking at the time, but in hindsight those were days of unbelievable sense and sobriety. How we miss them.
